Padel & Pickleball basics

What is padel?

Padel is a fast-growing racket sport that combines elements of tennis and squash. Played in doubles on an enclosed court roughly 20m by 10m, with a glass back wall that’s in play. Easy to pick up, addictive to develop. New Zealand’s fastest-growing racket sport.

What is pickleball?

Pickleball is the world’s fastest-growing sport, played on a smaller court with a perforated plastic ball and solid paddles. Easy for beginners, deeply tactical at higher levels. Played 1v1 (singles) or 2v2 (doubles).

I’m new — which sport should I try first?

Both are easy to start. Padel rewards teamwork and tactical play; pickleball is a touch easier on the body and faster to pick up. The honest answer: come to Padel Park Hamilton and try both. We run intro sessions for both sports.

What’s the difference between a racket and a paddle?

Padel uses rackets (perforated face, solid construction, no strings). Pickleball uses paddles (flat solid face, smaller than padel rackets). Different shapes, weights, and grips for each sport.

Shopping with us

Are all your products genuine?

Yes. We’re an authorised stockist for Babolat, Wilson, HEAD, Bullpadel, Paloma, and Slazenger. Every product is genuine, comes with full manufacturer warranty, and is bought direct.

How much should a beginner spend on a first racket or paddle?

For padel, $200–$300 is the sweet spot. For pickleball, $100–$200 covers genuinely good entry-level paddles. Below those prices you compromise on materials.

Can I get help choosing?

Absolutely. Take our padel quiz or pickleball quiz on the homepage. Or message us on WhatsApp and one of our coaches will reply.

Do you offer gift cards?

Yes — digital gift cards in any amount, sent straight to the recipient’s inbox. Terms on the gift card product page.

Demos

Can I try a racket or paddle before I buy?

Yes — head to our Demo Request page and tell us what you want to try, plus when you’re next on court at The Park. We confirm via email within 48 hours.

Is there a charge for the demo?

No charge for the demo itself — you’ll just need to be booked into a court at Padel Park Hamilton. Book via our court booking page.

Can I demo more than one racket or paddle?

Yes — you can demo up to three in a single session. List them all on the demo request form and we’ll have them ready.

Shipping & delivery

Where do you ship to?

NZ-wide. We don’t currently ship internationally.

How much is shipping?

Free NZ shipping on orders over $100. Below $100, a flat rate applies at checkout. Pickup from Padel Park Hamilton is free.

How quickly will my order arrive?

Most stock currently dispatches from our suppliers in 1–2 working days, with another 1–2 days to reach us. From your order: pickup at the Park is ready in 2–3 working days; NZ delivery is typically 4–6 working days for non-rural addresses and 5–8 days for rural. We’re working on true drop-shipping with our suppliers to speed this up.

Can I pick up from The Park?

Yes — select “Pickup” at checkout and collect from Padel Park Hamilton during staffed hours (5–10pm weekdays, 10am–3pm weekends). We’ll email when your order is ready — typically 2–3 working days from your order.

Will I get a tracking link?

Yes. Every order ships with track and trace. You’ll get the tracking link by email as soon as the order leaves us.

Returns & warranties

Can I return a racket or paddle?

30-day return window for unused items in original packaging. Items must be in resellable condition. See our returns policy for full details.

What if the racket is faulty?

All our products carry full manufacturer warranty. If something fails through manufacturing defect, get in touch and we’ll handle the return/replacement directly with the brand.

I don’t love the racket I bought — what now?

If you’re inside the 30-day return window and the racket is unused, we’ll refund or exchange. If you’ve already played with it, see our returns policy. The whole reason we offer demos is to avoid this scenario — use them.
